Aug, 23, 2009, 58th Annual Miss Universe 2009 was held in Nassau, Bahamas. Miss Venezuela Stefania Fernandez crowned Miss Universe 2009 at the Miss Universe beauty pageant in Nassau, Bahamas, Sunday. Miss Universe crown being placed by Dayana Mendoza, of Venezuela who is Miss Universe 2008. This 18 years old lady beats four finalists.  Four finalists are from Australia, Dominican Republic, Puerto Rico and Kosovo. She was looking very pretty in her red dress. She jumps when she heard her name as Miss Universe 2009. She is the second consecutive Miss Venezuela to win Miss Universe.

Stefania Fernandez was also chosen as “Miss Elegance” “Best Face” and “Best Body”. Last year’s Miss Universe and This year Miss Universe celebrate joy and share hug on stage. Both jump in happiness. At the time when Dayana was placing crown on her head, Stefania accidentally drop the crown on stage and Dayana help her in picking it up.

During a question-and-answer round with the top five finalists, Fernandez said -”I feel we have reached the level that men are at,” she said. She believed women have overcome obstacles such as hitting the well-known glass ceiling.

The 1 runner-up was Miss Dominican Republic, Ada Aimee De la Cruz. 2^nd runner-up was Miss Kosovo Gona Dragusha and Miss Australia Rachael Finch was awarded as 3^rd runner-up. Besides this Miss Photogenic award given to Miss China Wang Jingyao and Miss Thailand Chutima Durongdej is chosen as Miss Congeniality.
